Yashiro Myoken-sai Festival’s Shinko Ritual
2-4 November, Yashiro (Kumamoto prefecture)
It is held in the ritual of Yashiro Shrine in the city of Yashiro. Based on the faith in “Myoken”, the deification of the North Star and the Big Dipper, this ritual is also called “Myoken Festival”. In the festival, the festival floats which are considered as the vehicle of Myoken parade with a variety of processions of Sasa Hoko floats, wooden horses, and lion dance followed by Mikoshi portable shrine.
